— About —

Hi, I’m Kate, founder of Durham Blooms.

In autumn 2020, I decided to try growing some flowers for my own wedding. Having only ever grown fruit & veg before, I threw myself into the challenge, reading every book I could get my hands on and going on countless online courses. From there, my passion for cut-flower growing ignited and the idea of Durham Blooms was born.

We grow in the idyllic village of Shotley Bridge, in West County Durham & are incredibly passionate about growing beautiful, scented British flowers with nature in mind. All of our flowers are grown seasonally, organically, using as little single use plastic as possible and, of course, rack-up zero air miles. We welcome wildlife into the cutting patch and are happiest when we can hear the birds singing and the flower beds humming with life.

Our flowers are available to both florists and the public, to whom we offer beautifully arranged, seasonal bouquets as well as arranger’s buckets for you to arrange yourself at home. No two of our bouquets are the same & are made up in a wild & natural style using whichever flowers are looking their best in the cutting garden at the time of picking. We can also provide you with flowers for events, please just get in touch if you would like to know more.

We also have an honesty stand, The Flower Cupboard, located at 16 Woodlands Road in Shotley Bridge. The Flower Cupboard is open each week Friday 12pm - 6pm and Saturday & Sunday 10am - 6pm and is stocked full of beautiful seasonal flowers and plants, grown from seed by us.
